Over the years, the notes of the trumpet have always heralded the triumphant passage, the ceremonial and splendour of emperors, kings and victors. The clarion call of the trumpet has stirred men through the ages, to greater feats of valour in the battlefield, and so, traditionally, all cavalry units carry a trumpet. The various trumpet calls hence, are an essential part of regimental life and tradition. In the case of The President's Bodyguard, the presentation of a Silver Trumpet and Trumpet Banner was started in 1923, by Lord Reading, when the Bodyguard had completed 150 years of honorable service. Each succeeding Viceroy thereafter continued the tradition, presenting his Banner to the Bodyguard. Today the President's Bodyguard has the unique distinction of being the only military unit in the Indian Army, privileged to carry the President's Silver Trumpet and Trumpet Banner.

The President's Bodyguard was raised in 1773 at Benaras by the then Governor General of India, Warren Hasting and is the senior most Regiment of the Indian Army. The Regiment has completed 235 years of distinguished service. It is the senior most unit of the Indian Army, whose distinction, is in its position as 'Right of the Line' on all official and ceremonial occasions. The President's Bodyguard thus, takes precedence over all other Regiments and Corps. Col Ali Adil Mahmood, VSM is presently commanding the Regiment with Lt Col Ravinder Narwal, SM as Second-in-Command, Maj Mohit Vaishnava as Technical Adjutant and Maj Rahul Ranjan as the Medical Officer. Lt Gen Vinod Chopra, AVSM and Bar, Military Secretary to the President, is the Colonel of the Regiment.

The role of The President's Bodyguard is twofold - Ceremonial and Operational. They are the personal troops of The President of India and hence form an integral part of all state functions. Operationally, The President's Bodyguard has always responded to the call of duty. The Regiment has seen action in various roles and battlefields ever since it was raised. Post Independence, the Bodyguard Armoured Cars were the first to be air lifted to Chushul. In 1965, the Regiment participated in 'OPERATIONAL ABLAZE'. Detachments of the Bodyguard have served in 'OPERATION PAWAN' in Sri Lanka with the Indian Peace Keeping Force and in 'OPERATION MEGHDOOT' on the Siachen Glacier. Detachments of the Bodyguard have also served overseas with the United Nations Peace Keeping Forces in Somalia, Angola and Sierra Leone.

In the field of sports, the Regiment has performed admirably and has set standards of excellence which are difficult to match by others. The Regiment boasts of having two Arjuna Awardees for Polo and Equestrian sports, namely, Brig (Retd) VP Singh and Col (Retd) HS Sodhi, VSM. Ex Ris Maj & Hony Capt Milkha Singh won a Gold Medal for India in the 1982 Asian Games and Nb Ris Sajjan Kumar represented the Country in the Busan Asiad 2002. Astride Fariyad, the first Army horse to receive a Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card, Nb Ris Sajjan Kumar broke the 32 years old National Record of Open Jumping Puissance in 2004 by clearing a height of 195 cms. Till today, the officers, JCOs and other ranks are outstanding riders and polo players who participate in various national and international equestrian competitions and polo tournaments.

The Presentation by Smt Pratibha Devisingh Patil on 01 March 2008, was the 11th that the Regiment received since Independence. The glittering ceremony was held at the Forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan. The Presentation Parade was followed by an audio visual show depicting the Regiment's exalted past. There were also trick riding and jumping displays where riders exhibited excellent riding skill and daredevilry. The finale was a musical ride, with horses and riders carrying out complex movements in harmony with the music of a live band.

The 40-minute Ceremony includes inspection of the New Guard, nomination of sentries, a formal march to take post and an exchange of compliments by the Guards. A formal military ritual, the Ceremony is a coming together of smartly-attired soldiers of the impressive Army Guard and statuesque President's Bodyguard Troopers, astride their caparisoned, sleekly muscled, powerful and exquisitely groomed steeds. The regal bearing and hard training of the noble mounts of the President's Bodyguard, greatly enhanced by their superb ceremonial equipage, heavily embroidered saddle cloths, ceremonial bridles and bits, lend a regal dignity and spectacle of incomparable colour and pageantry at this Ceremonial Parade. A zestful Band and the impressive arrival and dispersal of the guard, makes the Ceremony an unforgettable spectacle.

The New Guard marches from Rashtrapati Bhavan to the Dominion Columns lining the two wings of the Central Secretariat in perfect military tandem. After inspection, Officers of the guards take salute, and march past smartly. Upon entering the driveway, just inside the Iron Gate of the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the New Guard takes position alongside the Old Guard for formal salutation. After exchanging salutes, the sentries of the Old Guard hand-over the keys to the New Guard. Sentries of the New Guard on duty take post and the remainder troops march off to the tune of "Saare Jahan Se Achcha".

Brief Description

An immense mausoleum of white marble, built in Agra between 1631 and 1648 by order of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favourite wife, the Taj Mahal is the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage.

A flawless architectural creation

For centuries, the Taj Mahal has inspired poets, painters and musicians to try and capture its elusive magic in word, colour and son. Since the 17th century, travelers have crossed continents to come and see this ultimate memorial to love, and few have been unmoved by its incomparable beauty.

Taj Mahal stands in the city of Agra, in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, on the banks of the Yamuna river. It was built in the memory of the beautiful Arjumand Bano Begum, who won the heart of a Mughal prince. She was married at 21 to Emperor Jahangir's third son Prince Khurram and stayed loyally by his side through good times and bad: in the luxurious royal palaces of Agra as well as the transient tents of war camps.

A memorial to his beloved

In AD 1628, Khurram became king after a bloody battle of succession; he took the name Shahjahan or King of the World and showered his beloved begum with the highest titles. She became Mumtaz Mahal, the Exalted of the Palace and Mumtaz-ul-Zamani, the Exalted of the Age. But Mumtaz Mahal was not destined to be queen for long.

In 1631, Shahjahan went on an expedition to the South and, as always, Mumtaz Mahal accompanied him. But she died in childbirth at Burhanpur. She had borne Shahjahan fourteen children, of whom four sons and three daughters survived. When Mumtaz Mahal died, she was just 39 years old. Shahjahan was inconsolable and contemporary chronicles tell of the royal court mourning for two years. There was no music, no feasting, and no celebration of any kind.

Shahjahan, who was a passionate builder, now decided to erect a memorial marble that the world would never forget. The site selected for the tomb was a garden by the Yamuna river, unshadowed by any other structure. The garden had been laid by Raja Man Singh of Amber and now belonged to his grandson, Raja Jai Singh. By a royal firman, Shahjahan gave Jai Singh four havelis in exchange for the garden. The site was also chosen because it was located on a bend in the river, and so could be seen from Shahjahan's personal palace in Agra Fort, further upstream.

A labor of love

Work on the mausoleum began in 1633 and 20,000 workers laboured for 17 years to build it. The most skilled architects, inlay craftsmen, calligraphers, stone-carvers and masons came from all across India and lands as distant as Persia and Turkey. The master mason was from Baghdad, an expert in building the double dome from Persia, and an inlay specialist from Delhi.

The tomb was completed in AD 1650. But, Shahjahan was deposed by his son Aurangzeb in 1658 and imprisioned in the Agra Fort. He spent his last years in the Mussalman Burj looking downstream at the Taj where his beloved Mumtaz Mahal lay. Sixteen years later he, too, was laid to rest beside her.

The bejewelled Palace

Shahjahan's two biggest passions were architecture and jewelery and both are reflected in the Taj Mahal. He visualized a building in marble and then had it decorated with semi-precious stones inlaid with the delicacy of handcrafted jewelery. Marble in purest white was brought from Makrana in Rajasthan, yellow marble and rockspar from the banks of the Narmada river, lack marble from Charkoh and red sandstone from Sikri. For the intricate pietra dura the finest gems were collected - crystal and jade from China, lapis lazuli and sapphires from Sri Lanka, jasper from Punja, carnelian from Baghdad and turquoise from Tibet.

Yemen sent agates, the corals came from Arabia, the garnets from Bundelkhand, onyx and amethyst from Persia. Mumtaz Mahal's final resting-place was ornamented like a queen's jewel-box.

The Complex

You enter the Taj complex through an arcaded forecourt where some of Shahjahan's other queens lie buried. The forecourt also has the Jilau Kana, a bazaar with cloisters leading to the main entrance of the tomb. The imposing gateway is made of red sandstone highlighted with marble and has octagonal kiosks on top. The gateway is an imposing 30 metres high and a fitting entrance to the Taj Mahal. The soaring arch is inscribed with a beautiful design of inlaid flowers and calligraphy.

As you enter the dark octagonal chamber under the gateway, the light streaming in from the opposite doorway draws you towards it. Here, framed by the arch of the doorway, the Taj Mahal reveals itself to the viewer with dramatic power. It stands at the end of a long walkway, framed by landscaped gardens and an ever-changing sky, its snowy marble glittering in the sunlight.

Taj Mahal stands at one side of a garden laid in the tradition charbagh style, with its square lawns bisected by pathways, water channels and rows of fountains. Halfway down the path there is a square pool, its limpid waters reflecting the marble tomb. Unlike other tombs, Taj Mahal stands at one end of the garden instead the centre. This was done deliberately, to leave its vista uncluttered by any other building.

The Main Building

The tomb stands on a marble plinth six-metres high. The four minarets at each corner beautifully frame the tomb. The plinth stands on a high standstone platform and at the far ends of this base are two identical sandstone structures, a mosque to the west and its jawab, or echo, to the east. This was the mehman khana or guesthouse. Thus, the main building is not just of great size but beautifully proportioned and balanced in design.

The octagonal central hall has four smaller octagonal halls round it and is decorated with magnificent inlay and dado panels done in high relief. The bulbous, perfectly-balanced double dome rises to a height of 45 metres and the four chhattris flanking and balancing the high drum give it added height. Taj Mahal rises 75 metres high and is, in fact, taller than the Qutb Minar.

An ornate marble screen, carved so fine that it almost has the texture of lace surrounds the cenotaphs in the central hall. However, as was the tradition during Mughal times, the actual graves lie in an underground crypt directly below the cenotaphs.

Intricacy in design

What is most amazing about the Taj Mahal is the fine detailing. The coloured inlay is never allowed to overwhelm the design, as carvings done in relief sensitively balance it. The ornate pietra dura and relief carvings are of floral, calligraphic and geometric designs. However, flowers remain the main decorative element as the tomb depicts a paradise garden. The skill of the inlay worker is so fine that it is impossible to find the joints, even when as many as 40 tiny pieces of semi-precious stones have been used in the petals of a single flower. Some of the best calligraphy of Koranic verses can be seen around the entrance arches and on the two headstones.

The colours of the Taj

Taj Mahal changes its moods with the seasons and the different times of the day. At dawn, the marble has a delicate bloom in shell pink, by noon it glitters majestically white, turning to a soft pearly grey at dusk. On full-moon away against the star-spangled sky. Monsoon clouds give it a moody blue tint and it appears and disappears like a mirage in the drifting mists of winter.

It can be solid and earthbound, fragile and ethereal, white, amber, grey and gold. The many faces of Taj Mahal display the seductive power of architecture at its best.

The Colosseum - the greatest amphitheater of the antiquity - was built in Rome, Italy, about 1920 years ago. It is considered an architectural and engineering wonder, and remains as a standing proof of both the grandeur and the cruelty of the Roman world.

The Duomo is one of Milan's most amazing landmarks. This Gothic style cathedral took 500 years to complete and features incredible architecture and stained glass. General admission is free, but it costs approximately 5 Euros to access the roof area via elevator.

The Fenice

Few buildings can have been so ill-fated as Venice’s famous opera house, the Fenice. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, the Fenice has thrice survived destruction, and remains one of the world’s most prestigious operatic venues.

The forerunner of the Fenice, the San Benedetto Theatre, was destroyed by fire in 1774. Although rebuilt by its owners, the Veneri family, a massive financial contribution was demanded from the theatre’s managers. They promptly abandoned the new building and constructed their own opera house on the banks of the Rio del Veste in the Campo San Fantin, barely 250 metres from the Piazza San Marco.

This new theatre was named the Fenice (Phoenix) because in spite of the difficulties created by the Veneri family it had risen from the ashes of the wrecked San Benedetto. The inaugural performance, Giovanni Paisiello's "I Giochi di Agrigento", was held in 1792.

The theatre rapidly established a reputation as one of Europe’s foremost opera houses. Major works by Rossini, Bellini and Donizetti were premiered at the Fenice during the years following the end of the Napoleonic Wars.

This theatre was also destroyed by fire shortly before the Christmas of 1836. Immediately after the disaster occurred, its managers instructed the brothers, Tommaso and Giambattista Meduna, to design another theatre on the same site. Within a year, the second Fenice was staging productions.

In January, Fasching is celebrated. It is a bawdy kind of six-week-long extravaganza of street parties and balls.

February, The Berlinale (Berlin International Film Festival), the world’s second largest, is held in February.

March, Lent comes to an end in March with Starkbierzeit, a time for quaffing strong brews.

April, April sees Festage (Festival Days) a host of gala concerts and operas held over 10 days. Also, April is the time for a mini Oktoberfest known as Fruhlingsfest.

June, The Munich Film Festival is held June. Which is a delight to all movie lovers.

This time its about Mallorca Island.

Mallorca Islands is the largest island of Spain. It is located in the Mediterranean Sea and part of the Balearic Islands archipelago. A popular destination or rather should be called as the mecca for people who love Sunny Beaches, Its 550 Km long coastline is full of sandy beaches which are a realy Beauty for holiday maker, surfers, Honeymooners. Its tourist infrastructure is so strong that it usually sees tourists in strength of thousands and millions flooding to it in peak holiday seasons. All thanks to the tourism infrastructure that this place is still the best to visit.

Fastest: Heathrow Express train to Paddington Station, Its a 15 min journey and regular trains are at 15 minutes interval. Its the best and the fastest way but little expensive at £15.50
Cheapest: A cheaper option is the Piccadilly Line to central London (London Underground i.e TUBE), it takes 50 min, Getting an 'Oyster Card' for cheapest travel would be a good option. A Single journey costs around £3.50 with oyster and £4 for a paper ticket. Zone 6 Travel cards are valid £6.70 for a day.
Most convenient: Combination of Heathrow Express to Paddington followed by a Taxi to your final destination is the most convenient but an expensive affair it could cost you for a Taxi from Heathrow to Central London will take around one hour and is highly dependent on traffic, priced highly at £45-60. Definitely not on my list.

So the next time you travel to London keep in mind that there are expensive and Cheap options too.

Once you've got a world class 'product', here's how to get people to look at it.

Use other media to pull people to your blog: Don't just write great stuff and wait to be discovered. Use e-mails (sparingly, selectively) to tell people you think might be interested in reading your blog about a particular article you've written. Make comments on others' blogs and include your blog URL when you do. Try to find an A-lister or two who might be interested in one of your articles, and e-mail them (just be aware many others are also looking for A-listers' attention, so do so sparingly and be patient). Or just comment, early and frequently, on A-listers' posts (first commenter on any new A-lister post often draws a lot of traffic). Join and participate in discussion groups, always leaving your blog URL at the end of every message. Contribute to e-magazines, either online versions of hard-copy periodicals like Ms., or specialized online journals like Virtual Occoquan. Use outgoing links on your blog and blogroll to articles and blogs written by people you'd like to have as readers: Chances are, they'll note you when they look at their inbound links list and come over to see what you said about them. And when people write to you, always answer, always acknowledge that they took the time, and always include your URL in your response. But don't feed the trolls (i.e. don't reply to readers who write hurtful, malicious or baiting comments or e-mails) or you'll have readers you don't want.
Write, at least sometimes, about 'hot' topics: You don't have to be a Googleslut to occasionally get some special buzz on a topic everyone is talking about. Being very focused on narrow, deep topics will get you a faithful readership, but not a particularly large one. Writing about something popular from time to time, especially if you do so before everyone else is writing about it, and say something unique or insightful, will broaden your audience, and bring in what Malcolm Gladwell calls connectors, people who can bring their entire, large networks of potential new readers to see your blog.
Make a great first impression: The average reader who links to your site looks at 1.5 pages and stays 90 seconds. Google hits command a small fraction of even that attention span. That's how long you have to make an impression that will bring them back. A memorable look, a powerful theme, easy navigation, legibility, making sure your links work and that you've spellchecked, using clear headings, clever, attractive graphics, summarizing your long posts, making sure your page doesn't take too long to load -- all these things help create a great first impression, and give your blog what's called 'stickiness'. The longer they stay, the more they'll remember and the more likely they'll come back.
Learn by studying who's reading what, and what works: I look at the end of each day who's been reading How to Save the World (most blogs have a 'referrer log' tool that lists your visitors; services like SiteMeter also provide this information). If I don't recognize a reader by their URL, I'll go to their site to see who they are and what brought them to my site (and often say 'thanks for visiting' while I'm there). And I track total popularity three ways (see chart above): Average hits/day per the Salon Rankings list, Number of Inbound Blogs per Technorati Cosmos (I also visit any new additions to my Inbound Blogs list), and Number of people subscribed to my RSS feed per Dave Winer's Who Subscribes List. I know that when I write about certain subjects like blogging or business innovation, I'll get a spike in hits. But I also know my posts on other subjects, like the environment, economics, and social networking, have different and loyal audiences, who I'd lose if I narrowed the focus of this blog. And some things, like poetry and short stories, I post despite knowing they have a very small audience, because the few comments I do get are essential to improving my writing skills. And because I love writing them.
Get outside more: Real Live Preacher, consistently one of the three most popular Salon Blogs, deliberately seeks out (looking at the Recent Updates List for unfamiliar blog names) and welcomes and helps new bloggers -- a tremendous way to get grateful new readers for his smartly written, well-laid-out blog. By using blog directories like EatonWeb or lists like Technorati's Current Events (or just typing a topic of interest in Technorati's search bar) you can find other bloggers interested in the same things you are, and connect with them. Or explore the blogrolls of blogs you like. When you find a 'like mind', link to them, e-mail them, comment on their weblog, or otherwise let them know you exist and where to find you. But don't be pushy and overtly ask them to link to you -- just let them know where you are, and they'll come around.

And finally: Be patient -- Viral marketing is very effective but takes time to work. Stick with what you're doing, especially if people are complimenting you -- word will spread, and the audience will come. And be yourself. If you try to affect a style that isn't 'you' it will come off as forced or dishonest.

Schonbrunn Palace

It dates back to the Middle Ages when it was commonly referred to as Katterburg. Over the following centuries, Schonbrunn was home to many prominent figures which included Hermann Bayer in 1548, who was mayor of Vienna and who was responsible for transforming Schonbrunn into a manorial estate.

In 1569, Schonbrunn came into the possession of the Habsburg’s via Maximilian II and according to the deeds of the acquisition, included a house, a watermill, stabling as well as a pleasure garden and an orchard. This laid the foundations for an imposing residence and formal gardens as well as a deer park. Maximilian was primarily interested in extending the game park, which was principally intended for the breeding of native game and fowl. Following his sudden death in 1576 the Katterburg passed to Rudolph II, who did little to the estate except to carry out necessary repairs which where required to keep Schonbrunn in working order.

The Vienna Hofburg Orchestra’s Concert Season

The Vienna Hofburg Orchestra gives Johann Strauss and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart concerts every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from May until mid October and on Saturdays from mid October until December.

The concert venues are the magnificent halls in the Vienna Hofburg as well as the Vienna Konzerthaus or the Musikverein. Concerts begin at 8.30 pm.

Rathaus Glockenspiel, Munich, Germany

The figures of the carillon show parts of Munich's history. A joust is displayed in the upper part which was arranged for the marriage of duke Wilhelm V. and Renata of Lothringen.

The lower part of the carillon shows a famous dance of Munich, the "Schäfflertanz". It was arranged at the time of the plague (1515-1517) and has since been traditionally performed every 7th year in Munich.

The 1972 Munich Games were the largest yet, setting records in all categories, with 195 events and 7,173 athletes from 121 nations. They were supposed to celebrate peace and, for the first ten days, all did indeed go well. But in the early morning of 5 September, eight Palestinian terrorists broke into the Olympic Village, killed two members of the Israeli team and took nine more hostage. In an ensuing battle, all nine Israeli hostages were killed, as were five of the terrorists and one policeman. The Olympics were suspended and a memorial service was held in the main stadium. In defiance of the terrorists, the International Olympic Committee ordered the competitions to resume after a pause of 34 hours. All other details about the Munich Games paled in significance, but it did have its highlights. Archery was reintroduced to the Olympic programme after a 52-year absence and handball after a 36-year absence. Whitewater (or slalom) canoeing was included for the first time. The 1972 Games were also the first to have a named mascot: Waldi the dachshund. U.S. swimmer Mark Spitz won an incredible seven gold medals to go with the two he had earned in 1968. Lasse Viren of Finland fell midway through the 10,000m final, but rose and set a world record to win the first of his four career gold medals. Freestyle wrestler Ivan Yarygin of Russia pinned all seven of his opponents en route to his first Olympic championship in the heavyweight division. West German, Liselott Linsenhoff, competing in the dressage event, became the first female equestrian to win a gold medal in an individual event. The media star of the Munich Games was the tiny Soviet gymnast, Olga Korbut, whose dramatic cycle of success in the team competition, failure in the individual competition and renewed success in the apparatus finals captured the attention of fans worldwide.

Europe. Ahhh!!!!! Lovely trip to the Wonderful Europe. The weather is awesome. The people are hospitable. But you need to take little care as everyone is not friendly. Anyway, my trip to Europe was a full one month. In this one week i visited London, Paris, Barcelona and Berlin.

The most Beautiful thing was that i completed all my trip on road. That means By CAR. Yes I went to the Whole Europe and traveled to different Places on my Car. You can also do the same. For this all what you need is A valid driving licence issued in an EU country is valid throughout the EU accompanied by vehicle registration document, Passport, Medical and Accident insurance. Also remember that in some countries you have to drive on the Left and in some on the right. I think i should stop here as i can keep going on instructing about driving as for me it was n extreme pleasure.

So coming to my trip i first landed in London. It was a bright sunny morning and i quickly Searched for Hotels in London checked into a hotel. It was a good deal from the people i got it from. I saw the Buckingham palace and the Big ben.

Then i took a TGV to france and stopped at paris and again the same search for Hotels in Paris began. This time i booked from the same agent and again i was happy with what i got at cheap price. I went to relax a bit and then went out to enjoy the Night life of the most romantic and fashionable place. Paris. The most attractive thing was the eiffle tower. and driving on the streets of paris and enjoying the night life with a female companion was awesome, her name was Juliane. She was born in Chemnitz Germany and lived in berlin till childhood and later lived in Barcelona. She was a fashion designer, not to be mentioned and an amazing beauty. We had a good time merry making and drinking in paris. she told me about everything good and easily available in Paris.

Staying in Paris for two days I had only three days left for going back to london to catch my flight back, So we decided to leave for Barcelona, I was lucky to have been there and enjoyed the football match between Barcelona and valencia, what a match it was it was a nail biting event which landed in a tie. So after having our dinner i checked into a Hotel in barcelona. spend a wonderful night there and left for germany next day.

We reached berlin by road in the afternon and checked into our the room i booked in a Hotel in Berlin. The whole driving was done by Juliane as she was much comfortable in driving on the Auto bahn, I only layed there and glanced at her as she drove through the cuts and curves on the road. She was just amazing. I never met any girl like her in my entire life. So Germany berlin was my last stop and the most amazing one. I spend the whole day watching various different place in berlin and for my last two days left i stayed in My hotel room with my special guest. Must not mention what exactly hapened there. I left for london in the night to catch my flight back home from there. Though i was not in a mood to come back as i would miss my buddy, guide, companion everyday. I wish i'd go back there and meet her again.

Eiffel Tower

My visit to one of the wonders of the world! The Eiffel Tower was built for the International Exhibition of Paris of 1889 commemorating the centenary of the French Revolution. The Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII of England, opened the tower. Of the 700 proposals submitted in a design competition, Gustave Eiffel's was unanimously chosen.

LE LOUVRE MUSEUM PARIS

The Louvre Museum in Paris is the probably the most famous and largest art museum in the world!

The museum has approximately 6000 European paintings and and was originally designed as a palace. It has been influenced by major events in French history and has experienced changes and additions to the original structure by many architects and decorators. When the Orsay museum was created in 1986, most of the post 1848 works left the Louvre and were transferred to the new museum which is close by.

The museum presents the main part of its treasures to visitors, in the new Richelieu wing, islamic art collections, oriental antiques, French sculptures, objets d'art,French paintings & paintings from the Northern school (including Rubens).
Let's not forget, the ever so famous masterpieces:the Venus of Milo, the Winged Victory of Samothrace, the Mona Lisa of Leonard da Vinci, and so many others.

French Wineries

France has long been an important wine producing country. Initially, monks, for a celebratory drink during Mass, produced wines. As trade grew, vineyards moved closer to port cities, such as Bordeaux. There are seven major wine regions of France. French wineries name their wines after the vineyard where the wine was grown, rather than the grape variety, although the final determination of a wine's character comes from many factors, including grape variety, soil quality, when it's harvested, how it's stored, and the skill of the winemaker. Touring the wine regions of France is a great holiday side trip, or a fantastic focus for a vacation in France.
